Sentence for 17th October 2009

Sentence: Eating and spending money are pretty much alike; one open mouth, the other is open wallet (Hii 2009).

For this entry I grabbed a quote from a friend of mine, Shirley. There is some truth behind this: natural instincts to splurge on the unnecessary and can't control what we eat, which pretty much goes into the same category of unable to deny pleasure.

Today is a day for total karma and goodness! It is A Day With PDK! Some of you, especially those not from Miri, might not heard of PDK before. It is a non-government organization (NGO) who specialized in helping mentally challenged children and their parents to overcome their problems, hopefully able to help these special children to be independent and fit into society. If anyone is interested to help them, in Miri, or want to organize any events to help them, please feel free to contact me for more info.

A Day With PDK, an event organized by Rotaract Club of Curtin, Miri. The event OC was Rtr. Chai Wu Zhang, but he wasn't always at the scene since he has to run around making sure everything was in order and also make sure the lunch was prepared and brought to campus. So I was acting OC for the event and accompanied them along with 12 other Rotaractors. Here are some photos me and my brother took:

When we 1st arrived. There were 13 of them and 13 of us, along with 3 teachers from the center.

Curtin Tour and briefing. All these was done with me using English and really choppily improvised Malay Language >.< Luckily Rtr. Aileen Ho was there to help translate, she is actually quite fluent in the Malay Language

This was taken outside the Admin Building

Walking towards the School of Business

A teacher and a PDK member helping

The new Multi Purpose Hall and Delifrance

Taking a break after a long walk

And another break. Vice President Rtr. Felix Lam was on the scene

After the tour, we went to bring the children for a movie at one of our bigger classrooms. The movie on play was Bee Movie, I never watch that before so I also sit back and relaxed while the movie was on play.

After the movie, we brought them for some games: Musical Chairs was the 1st

The two finalists

After that we played The Eagle, the Hen and the Chicks (Rough translation from Mandarin). No photos of these till our OC upload the photos.

After that we had Rtr. Lu Jee teach them (and us) some basic Karate moves

Rtr. Bahahahaha distributing our lunch: McD set meals sponsored by McD. Many thanks to McDonalds, Miri

Happily eating while chatting with each other

After lunch, a group photo, then we sent them off back to PDK

Some of you might notice that not all the PDK children are actually that young. Some of them are actually older than me, but their mentality are still young, like children. The group that came with us are the older group, very obedient and all loves to play. Watch out for Rotaract booths opening around the cafeteria and posters on the notice boards for upcoming events!
