Happy 22nd Birthday to ME!

It is now 12am... I am alone... at home... in front of my computer typing this entry... too pathetic
>.<

Ok, I lied. I am also drinking some fine 14 year-old chilled Vineyard red wine, smsing and Facebooking. Now not too pathetic, but still pathetic, can be better.

Going Miri in exactly 9 more hours. Will reach Miri before noon. Bowling!!!! Here I come!

Christmas Eve and Christmas at Church 2009

First off, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Christmas Eve for this year was... eventful, lol. Me and four other girls, so it was totally up to me to secure seats for em. Went through quite a hassle to find a good place to actually chill out and wait for Christmas countdown. Most of the places are so damn full, from as early as 8.30pm! >.<

Ended up we all hogged a few seats at Elaine's cousin's table at MNG. =.='''
Really this year Christmas Eve was so different compared to last few years, where places in Bintulu were actually deserted on Christmas Eve.

Took some pics on the nite, but using friend's camera so have to wait for uploads on facebook =P

Woke up early next morning to prepare to go church! Christmas Mass is like, one of the most important masses in the whole year and I just couldn't miss it.

Eng Kwong Methodist Church, Bintulu

A lot a lot of people today, packed full and had to squeeze together

Again, a lot of people

Time to exchange presents!

Then after that, straight go home, eat, sleep, read blog, write blog, wait for my birthday, the end.

Totally uneventful Christmas, spent at home, sigh.

Christmas Carol near my house 2009

23rd of December 2009, I went Christmas Caroling at my residential area.

Well, not exactly Christmas Carol, because this year there was no walking around and singing Christmas songs on the road. Instead, we were doing house visits to spread the good news of the Lord's arrival and do a couple of short prayer sessions, to praise the Lord and bless the house and family for their kind hospitality.

At 6.30pm, after a quick dinner, me and my mum went to our church to gather first. It was a good time to talk and mingle around with friends, especially those who came back for the holidays. At exactly 7pm, we all go Christmas Caroling at our respective residential areas.

One of the houses we visit (That's my mum, =P)

After the prayer session, we chill out, eat and drink (The cakes are nice!)

Cute kid!! Very naughty but smart, can understand what we were talking

Now back at the kitchen... THE SPREAD!

Every house that we visited prepared quite a lot of delicious food for us. After that we all went to the 2nd house and ooooohhhhh, the peanut soup si beh nice! Every year go there the aunty sure prepare peanut soup. Too bad no pics from that house, got elders and scare they don't like.

Benson's 23rd Birthday Buffet

Venue: Imperial Hotel (Palm Terrace Cafe)
Event: Benson's 23rd Birthday Buffet
Date and Time: 7pm 6th of November 2009

Yeah, I know I know... this entry is really really late, like 1 month and 2 weeks late. But still, to honor Benson, this is a must!

Now, the birthday boy! (Photos taken from Joanne =P)

The Birthday Boy

The Emo Kidz (once again, minus a few)

Show some of the photos for the food which I managed to take:

The one in a shot-glass I think is called Lime Cream or something, quite nice if you like lime and sour. The donut was quite special, coz got cheese shredding and some kind of cream(I think made out of milk) and is super yummy!

Sago in syrup, gula Malacca, coconut milk, a dash of whip cream and a sweetened cherry, simply nice!

This actually happened like 3 days before the final exam! Omg omg... But because we all love Benson, we still find time to celebrate this wonderful day, only once per year, really must not miss it eh! The food there was nothing short of amazing, no complaints at all. Ian Tan managed to eat so much roasted lamb, he cannot bite anymore, lolz.

Of course after buffet, still early, only around 9.30pm. The others went for shisha, but I didn't go because really damn scared will fail, have to go back grind my nose on books (or my LCD screen).

PS: I wonder what happened to the cake... Since it was a buffet, we stuffed our stomach and face full of food, there's simply no space left for cake!

Curtin Prom Night 2009 (Stars of Romance, aka Romance of Snack Plate (Benson, 2009))

(WARNING: This post is supa-not-56k-friendly)

Seriously! I went to 4 Curtin Proms since 2006 till 2009 and this is by far THE WORST PROM NIGHT EVER!
And the worse is, it gets worse and worse each year!

Now... one who did not attend the said event, would ask: WTH? How come got Snack Plate?
Firstly I would like to explain what a Snack Plate is. Refer the photo below and you should know what it is... If you still don't know, you seriously live under a rock!

Snack Plate: Menu from KFC

Ok, back to the event: Curtin Prom Night 2009 (Stars of Romance)

Ugh, the theme of the event is about romance... single guys, like me, and also girls really don't fit in too well with the theme. Either way, I still go with my fellow Emo Kidz since this is the last prom for us!

Anyways... here come the PICs (note that none of these photos are from myself, I don't own a decent enough camera for low light/outdoor shooting)!

The girls in white: Aileen, Chloe, Ah Wen (Ah Hong)

The Couples

The girls in black: Joanne, Zi Wei

The guys: Chippy, William, Benson, Chan, Jojo, Ian, Felix, Ian, ME, Alfred

The guys, again, minus a few

The gang and Pro-Vice Chancellor (I was not in... was the photographer, lol)

The two posers

The three musketeers

Something wrong, lol

Aiyerrrr~~~ So sweat (Lee 2009)

Daphne and Benson

Suspenders O.o

Again, suspenders, lol. Most of us guys wore it to Prom >.< Aiyerr~~~ Another sweet couple, DK and Meat Meat

Magic show?

My old friends since the 1st week of Foundation: Meat Meat, Jackie Chang

Me and Chloe, black and white

Me and Meat Meat

Me and Miss Model (aka Hiok Hiok Hiok Girl) XD

Me and the two Jo's

Me and Zi Wei.... The flash from Benson's cam nearly turn me blind >.< The Prom King and Queen Nomanies

Final result... Beautiful Queen and exactly-opposite-nervous-wrecked-almost-froze-on-stage-guy
I seriously don't know how to dance, wtf... never took lessons coz never thought will be needed, zzz... See the hand position all salah, fail. Big embarrassment, and I have the Emo Kids to thank for that >.>

YEAH!!! AFTER PROM PARTY!!! We all drank a lot and got wild on the dance floor, was fun! Much more fun than Prom.

Seriously... This year's Prom is my last and by far the worst! OMG the food! Wanted to show you how the food looks like but since the photos has been deleted by the photographer, better don't post it here. But you can still refer to the 1st photo above, as reference. Trust me, it wasn't far from the real thing!

Well, more pics... but this time they are from my lousy phone camera at home:

The Invitation Card. They sub this as a entrance ticket as well, kinda creative

Got silver words eh, plus name and also student council chop all in silver, no play play

Don't know what this is called... only got this after being an idiot and stage frightened. So not worth it!
And the Emo Kidz thought got free liqour, WTF!

Well, special thanks to Chloe, Kally, Meat Meat, Jackie, Benson and Joanne for the photos.

Now you guys can see why I was so reluctant to post this blog entry. Wasn't much happening, the event and programs was just so so, if not lower, and the food-SUX-period! Most of those who attended Prom actually went out for second dinner. The Emo Kidz ate a lot of those Snack Plate buns (we asked for a lot more from the waitresses) to last us through the night.

Orite, time to blog blog blog~~~

My short break... ends up much much longer than I had expected! I was like so damn lazy after exam... was sick on the last day and didn't recover till much later (excuse, lol). Slept for like more than 12 hours per day and can reach till 20 hours of sleep in 1 single day. Time to pick up my resolve and put some OMPHs into my blog now!

1sentenceblogger is taking a self claimed break!

It is nearing the end of the semester! 2 more teaching weeks, including this one, then that's it, end of my Year 4 Second Semester. Time sure flies...

Well, that's not the point. The point is, I am now spending more time in my studies (ugh, the nightmarish load of assignments!), in myself and also friends, since some are leaving after this semester due to graduation and Perth. So, less time for my blog, to balance it out. That doesn't mean I am abandoning the blog, just taking a break, sort things out and before you know it, I will be back full blast! Remember I still haven't posted the entry for Curtin Prom 2009? 1st thing I will do once I am free is to post that long delayed entry... had been sitting in my draft folder a lil' bit too long.

Until then, cheers, have a good life, keep the night candle running, remember to submit your assignments on time and all the best is exams!

Adios!

Sentence for 18th October 2009

Sentence: Sleep is the ultimate pleasure... and it's free!

Ugh, pretty much ended up dead on the bed for the whole day, except for a few hours active during the afternoon. I even skipped dinner and slept till 11pm. Winded up having gastric and hell that was painful... Luckily there is a mee stall nearby my house so still managed to get up, wash up and drag my ass over for supper.

And that marks the end of another weekend... 3 more assignments this week, so better start early!

Sentence for 17th October 2009

Sentence: Eating and spending money are pretty much alike; one open mouth, the other is open wallet (Hii 2009).

For this entry I grabbed a quote from a friend of mine, Shirley. There is some truth behind this: natural instincts to splurge on the unnecessary and can't control what we eat, which pretty much goes into the same category of unable to deny pleasure.

Today is a day for total karma and goodness! It is A Day With PDK! Some of you, especially those not from Miri, might not heard of PDK before. It is a non-government organization (NGO) who specialized in helping mentally challenged children and their parents to overcome their problems, hopefully able to help these special children to be independent and fit into society. If anyone is interested to help them, in Miri, or want to organize any events to help them, please feel free to contact me for more info.

A Day With PDK, an event organized by Rotaract Club of Curtin, Miri. The event OC was Rtr. Chai Wu Zhang, but he wasn't always at the scene since he has to run around making sure everything was in order and also make sure the lunch was prepared and brought to campus. So I was acting OC for the event and accompanied them along with 12 other Rotaractors. Here are some photos me and my brother took:

When we 1st arrived. There were 13 of them and 13 of us, along with 3 teachers from the center.

Curtin Tour and briefing. All these was done with me using English and really choppily improvised Malay Language >.< Luckily Rtr. Aileen Ho was there to help translate, she is actually quite fluent in the Malay Language

This was taken outside the Admin Building

Walking towards the School of Business

A teacher and a PDK member helping

The new Multi Purpose Hall and Delifrance

Taking a break after a long walk

And another break. Vice President Rtr. Felix Lam was on the scene

After the tour, we went to bring the children for a movie at one of our bigger classrooms. The movie on play was Bee Movie, I never watch that before so I also sit back and relaxed while the movie was on play.

After the movie, we brought them for some games: Musical Chairs was the 1st

The two finalists

After that we played The Eagle, the Hen and the Chicks (Rough translation from Mandarin). No photos of these till our OC upload the photos.

After that we had Rtr. Lu Jee teach them (and us) some basic Karate moves

Rtr. Bahahahaha distributing our lunch: McD set meals sponsored by McD. Many thanks to McDonalds, Miri

Happily eating while chatting with each other

After lunch, a group photo, then we sent them off back to PDK

Some of you might notice that not all the PDK children are actually that young. Some of them are actually older than me, but their mentality are still young, like children. The group that came with us are the older group, very obedient and all loves to play. Watch out for Rotaract booths opening around the cafeteria and posters on the notice boards for upcoming events!
