1SentenceBlogger want readers' choice!

I am practically doing nothing at home, thus no happenings...

... and I have no idea what to blog about, no inspiration, writer's block, whatever.

So, I am gonna post a poll here... and YOU, the readers, get to choose which topic you would like to read most on 1SentenceBlogger!
Just please don't ask me to blog on my love life, because I don't have one (No.-insert my age- Valentines Day as a single) or about my career, because I don't have that either.

Every input is highly appreciated and will help me in my blogging =)

Thank you! Arigatou Gozaimasu! Komapsumnida! 谢谢!

1SentenceBlogger just had a facelift!

Check out the new look I give to the blog!

Took me some time to find the correct colour combination, the perfect background and I even changed the title description.

Also changed the side-bar from right to left, now it looks tidier and my blogger list won't get blocked by over-sized photos and videos.
I increased the width of the main section as well, so I can now post wider videos and bigger photos!
The too-large video was an eye-sore, glad I got that out of the way.

Hadn't touch HTML coding for like nearly forever and it was a bitch playing around with the code, but nonetheless, the results are satisfying.

Gonna design a banner background next. Anyone can volunteer to help me?

I suck big time in Photoshop...

Local Malaysian Green Day

Heard of the song "Through My Window"?
It was once featured as the background music for TmNet's advertisement, the paper guy one, and was quite famous on radios and MTV channels.

When I first heard it, I seriously thought the song was from an American band, MAYBE even by Green Day themselves.
Their hard rock music, lyrics and I dare say even their voice resembles Green Day's signature all-American loudness and accent.

Well, the band was actually local, from Malaysia, by Malays.
They called themselves Bunkface and produce both English and Malay songs.
Honestly, I am only interested in their English songs and I like these two songs especially:

Through My Window - Bunkface

Prom Queen - Bunkface

Enjoy :)

The bored and the dead

Everyday is a cycle of repetitive schedule.
Wake up - lunch - sleep - wake up - dinner - web browsing/facebook/blog/game - sleep... it goes on and on without a break.
This boredom practically made me a body of animated dead, a zombie: bored life = dead life
I am already sleeping more than 12 hours per day!

The scenery I am stuck with, every-single-day

Maybe I am just used to the more hectic lifestyle as a under-grad student.
Or maybe I am just waiting for something to happen?

I need a new hobby... or a girlfriend!

Sushi King in Bintulu??? =O

I went to Park City Mall and saw that beside Junction Food Court, there is a new shop (well, not so new since it was there for around a week already):

"There's Sushi King in Bintulu! ZOMG!!!!!"

Nope, I did not just said that. Not me who said it anyway, but that's what I thought the people who practically FLOODED to Sushi King would say. I mean, look at this photo:

It is really flooded with people! There's a line forming outside the restaurant and it was freaking 10.30am! Wait till it's lunch time...

It is like a new toilet with golden seats and everyone is rushing to sit on it, even if there's a fee you need to pay for just sitting on it. Sushi King is not cheap to dine at, you know.

Damn it! Now there's a shop in Park City Mall which reminds me of Escapade.

Sarcasm Is One Of The Services I Provide

[SARCASM = 100%]
Today is a glorious day!

Simply glorious and wonderful! I almost thought I woke up in Heaven today.

The day started with a wonderful black sky, brimmed with dark clouds threatening to become a storm anytime.

Then I found out my desktop was attacked by some kind of worm...
At first it won't even load into windows, I nearly made holes on my room's ceiling because I skipped uncontrollably in joy.
After a few dozens tries, windows finally load up. Kept on auto restart and occasional BSOD and was not because of memory module, marvelous! Well, I managed to backup everything necessary (like p*rn and illegally downloaded songs and movies), then did a clean reformat.

Then towards the evening, Streamyx (aka Suxmyx, Screamyx, Crymyx, Slowmyx, whatever you wanna call IT) had in stored a pleasant surprise for me!
Yes, my resident's internet connection crawled to a mere 900+bytes, that is around 4 to 5 times slower than 56k modem.
Another reason to be happy and open a champagne bottle... an empty champagne bottle counts as well, of course.

Of course, the day won't end with just that. My desktop's power supply fan decided to make me happy by spluttering illegible ramblings noise.
Finally feeling so happy and sorry for it, I decided to open the whole power supply, carefully and tenderly tear it apart (voiding the warranty in the process) to get to the fan and oil it.
After I reassemble everything, it still splutter out some loud noise....
So I banged on it a few times, the noise stopped... for now that is.

And then I had to proceed to install all the drivers, programs (download accelerators for p*rn and illegal songs and movies) blah blah blah the whole nine yards.

I just felt that I need to blog about my wonderfully eventful and marvelous day, so I write this entry, for the lulz of it.

The end.
[/SARCASM = 100%]

I think I shed more hair and some white lines are starting to form today.
Man... what a day.

Sibu Trip

Well, I am now back at Bintulu. The trip to Sibu was... wet and moldy =/

It rained all day long at Sibu, not very pleasant

Anyways, I went there mainly to test drive a couple of cars.
Well, actually in the end only test drove one car, since there's no stock for the other one.
Planning to get a new-car, IF I can sell off my now-car. And that is a very big IF.
Hard to sell off a 4 year-old car going for 5 in less than 4 months. Sigh...

Dropped by my grandparents afterward, just to show my face and chit chat.
At dinner, I tried out a new dish, it is a fish actually, deep fried till it is very crispy. The fish was very sweet, very nice texture, but quite expensive as well =/
I think it is called Pari or Piri. No photos, forgot to take >.<

Sibu was uneventful and boring. Mainly cause the trip was spontaneous and I forgotten to bring my laptop adapter. And the Sibu-Bintulu road, was OMG lots of holes! It did not felt like driving, more like playing "dodge-hole" and extremely tiring and bumpy. And I thought Miri-Bintulu road was bad...

This reminds me, there is this saying in Malaysia during "Pak Lah's" reign as Prime Minister: "The number of holes on the road is directly proportional to the number of holes on the PM's face." That was said cause his face had lots of holes, lol! Our current PM has a smooth face, so don't know when those holes on the road will disappear *rolls-eyes*

Had lunch at Selangau today and the dishes was very nice and quite exquisit

The dishes! Guess what those were =P

The coffee shop is just slightly at the left side, opposite of Shell petrol station, corner shop lot.
All the dishes shown above were taken from the wild and not grown/domesticated.

I will do some detailed explanations for my readers from outside Malaysia.

The vege-like dish is called "milian" (I am pretty sure there's a more official name for it), a kind of wild grown vegetation. Mostly found on the Borneo Island and I love the taste of it! It feels crunchy and sweet at the same time.

The blue plate is what the local calls as "Bat-man". It is actually a breed of wild flying squirrels, but not the kind you saw on Discovery Channel, it is much much smaller. The prime part of this dish is the skin, not the meat.

The dish with onions is what we call as "tian-ji" in Mandarin. It is not field chicken, if that's what you were thinking, lol. It tastes like chicken thou, only much sweeter and the meat more tender and elastic. This might sound gross for some of the readers, especially those from metropolitan cities, but "tian-ji" is actually a breed of toads. Yes, toads, not frogs. You can easily find these in some coffee shops on the Borneo Island. Most of these toads are breed locally and had been domesticated, but the one I had today is actually from the wild, something special and hard to find.

The last dish is less gross, haha. It is just wild boar =P
Nonetheless, it is still quite exquisite.

The whole meal consists of dishes which the ingredients were taken from the wild. Not everyday I get to taste these dishes.

Well, that's all from this trip. Till next time!

1SentenceBlogger Hails From Sibu!!!!

Under a spontaneous decision, I am now at Sibu =P

Drove here in my car, my dad as my passenger on a beautiful Tuesday morning, I arrived here after a mere 2 hours and 10 minutes.

First time in my life I drove here and also first time I drove at Sibu! Lucky enough I did not get lost, lolz. After I drop my dad off at the Sibu Country Golf Club near Sibu Airport road, I made my own way to town, in search of Paramount Hotel. I was actually hoping on my Garmin on my 5800XM, but hell broke lose and jammed my GPS signal >.<
Lucky enough I still reached the hotel, after a few wrong turns and a lucky short cut.

Will be back after a night stay here. Forgotten to bring my laptop adapter and the battery is dying.

Till then, ciaoz.

Random Thoughs, Random Reading During Summer Break

It's bored here back at my hometown... I mean, I am so bored now, I am literally blogging about what I am thinking!
I was thinking "Hey, since I am free, why don't I blog more, expand my network, get more people to read my blog?"
Problem is... I got nothing to blog about! >.<
No one wants to see me blog about how bored am I, right?

...

Oh, I am blogging about how bored I am right now, lol. Bear with me a bit.

Those close friends who were here for their holidays, most of them had already gone back to their studies. Other friends, working. Plus there aren't many places in Bintulu to hang out anyway. Go Miri? The Emo Kids there are working as well.

Good thing is, save money! Last trip down to Miri really burnt my wallet, pocket and half of my pants.
Also losing quite some weight because no more breakfast or high tea or supper with friends. A good thing.

Well, picked up some of my old hobbies nowadays, like taking long naps and reading.
Not gonna blog about my long naps here, just the reading.

Came across two good books during this summer break:
Let the Right One In, by John Ajvide Lindqvist
and
The Magicians, by Lev Grossman

The book cover for Let the Right One In

Let the Right One In, by John Ajvide Lindqvist, is originally not written in the English language.
The book I read is actually an English translated version, translated from the Swedish language.
The content of the book is so good, it was translated into many other languages. I even saw a Korean version in the bookstore.
Not just that, it was made into a movie as well!
The plot is good, clear and concise, with minor branching from the main story line.
The author manage to put the plot in such a way, there is no dull moment and full of suspense.
However, the overall story lacks description and people theory. The book focus mainly on the plot and story line.
Oh, and the most important part... It is about dark, medieval and vampiric stuff, the stuff I like most in a book.
Not going to say anything bout the story here, go read yourself. Warning thou, not for the faint of heart.

Knowing myself, I am a big fan of vampire stories, thus I simply love this book. I finished nearly all the popular best selling vampire book (including the four Twilight series, finished em last summer break), except the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. The story line by Anne Rice is way too long and the book is as thick as an Amazonian native tree. I think the book actually took up that much wood.

The book cover for The Magicians

Ok, this book is very very unique. It actually combines the worlds from Harry Potter, a bit of Lord of The Rings and Chronicles of Narnia.
The essence of this book, I can say, is the opposite of Let the Right One In.
The plot is messy, confusing and branches out a lot. Those who has short term memory lost simply cannot keep up with the changes in the plot.
However, I consider it a plus for the unique plot set up as at the end of the book, everything falls into place and the author really put a lot of thought to make the irrelevant side-plots turn out important.
Besides that, this book is less narrative and actually more descriptive. Unlike most books, especially Lord of The Rings, which focuses a lot on the environment set up and description, this book actually focuses a lot on each and every character, including those who only appear in a page.
The author describes in minute detail on the personality, mood swings, the thoughts, motives, even the history of every single character. And that, for me is really unique.
Going to try to get Lev Grossman's other book, CODEX. I like his writing style, a lot!

I hope I don't bore you guys with this post. For those who likes reading as much as I do, these two books are highly recommended.

End of Sem Party, Semester 2 2009

(Okay, this has been sitting in my draft folder, only half-done, for months! Nearly forgotten all about it, so yeah, it is kinda like an super overdue post >.<)

This also served as a farewell party for Joanne Elaine, since she is going to Perth to continue her studies... We will all miss you!!!

As an Emo Kidz tradition, all Emo Kidz after finishing their final exams must do a series of things which is so sacred, the semester just simply cannot end without it:

1. Eat - yeah, eat is a must lar. This year we have Master BBQ Chef, Chippy Chieng on the grill and BBQ stand (yummy chicken wings and his trademarked BBQ three-layered pork) and Mr and Mrs Chien doing the chao-meehun, chao-mian and other dishes.

Chippy Chieng on the grill

Mr and Mrs Chien's cooking

2. Drink - Wait, did I just said drink? When Emo Kidz say 'drink', there is only one meaning... BOOZE!

The Johnny Award goes to... JE!

3. Puke - In full, is puke-your-guts-out... literally. This one I admit I did not complete... coz I skipped this step to step 4.

4. Pass out - If you failed to do this, any standing Emo Kidz will prepare a concoction of 3 or more liquor/alcoholic drinks, to make sure you either pass out straight or return to step 3.

Namely these 3... but some other times we got beer and/or red wine.

Passed out victim... Luckily I was smart enough to pass out in the room, not on the road

5. Hangover - result of step 3 and 4.

We kicked off the party 1st by eating and drinking non-alcoholic drinks and also chit chatting, like at a normal part. The food was awesome, especially the barbecue items and the mee hun!

BBQ chicken wings

The BBQ three-layered pork! I could still taste it in my mouth, it was that awesome

The Chien(g)s prepared so much food, we ate from 7pm to 4am the next day >.<
After all the food and everyone is full, it is all fun and games! Played the D*ck and H*le game and catch the mouse.

All sitting down in a circle, anticipating the unknown

But before the game starts, it is essential to do some warming up to avoid cramps and injuries, so:

We "warmed up", the Emo Kidz way! The one who poured the JD didn't even drink a single drop himself >.> (pussy... pussy... pussy... pussy... pussy...)

The punishment of the game, is of coz, DRINK!

After the games, we all got hot and sweaty due to the alcohol in our system, so the party moved out onto the road:

A makeshift table

Started taking photos

Lots more photos

Zi Wei joined us much much later

Some of us (including me) got so restless, we did some really stupid stuff, lol. We tried to topple Felix's car into the drain in this photo, but obviously we failed, hahaha

Then, just like that, we said our farewells to yet another semester and also to our beloved Joanne T.T
May you study in peace, without us, at Perth.

2010 New Year's Eve

What is so great about New Year Countdown? Well, nothing beats counting down to the New Year with your close buds and girlfriend/boyfriend (if you have one), after all it is a once in a lifetime thing, 2010 New Year is not gonna repeat itself.

It is also a great chance to say goodbye and finally rid off a completely lousy and fucked up year (pardon my French), well that's for me, and embrace the infinite possibilities a new year can bring. There's actually quite a few things I HOPE can happen in 2010, on the contrary that some actually did not happen or had quite an opposite effect in 2009.

I know for some, especially Jojo, William and Ian C., 2009 is a splendid year and hopefully 2010 will bring equal luck and fortune, if not more.

I had listed out 10 things I wanted to do in 2010:
1. Stop smoking (Occasional breach of this during parties acceptable)
2. Stop drinking (EPIC FAILED! The 1st second of the new year already started drinking, lol)
3. Stop driving over the speed limit (Except long distance. Who the hell is gonna drive 70km/h all the way)
4. Stop gambling (so far so good)
5. Do night driving back Miri/Bintulu (Done and it was nothing short of awesome)
6. Graduate from university, convocation at Perth
7. Get a girlfriend (Same hope every year; got fucked up very badly every year)
8. Get a job
9. Get a dog
10. Continue my blog

Enough of myself... it's time for the party details!

What's better than having the last dinner/supper... at McDonalds!
Seriously, lol, I had my last dinner/supper for 2009 at McDonalds. Let the photos prove it to you.

The 2 Fei Zais

Alfred's camwhoring skillz

After that we went to secure tables and seats at Alfresco... Hell, bloody lot of people! Finding car park took around 20 mins, then loiter around, "wash" eyes and trying all out to wait and find tables. We were there for so long, even had time to take quite a few photos.

Ahemz

So sweet (sweat)! Sweat is an inside joke, don't bother

Then, really no other choice already, we went to Siam Thai Bar. Alfresco, Balcony and Cherry Berries was packed right out to the front door and onto the side walk... and for some reason, they played country rock and some oldies, not really our style.

Thai Bar still the best! Cover charge was expensive thou >.<

Some group photos first

The girls

The guys

The couples
-.^

Er... The "special" kind of couples

The beer table! Didn't order a lot, only 2-3 cans per person

2010 1st group photo

Okay, from this point on the photos are just random and jumbled up, with no actual sequence. Got lazy to rearrange them:
There are lots more photos... but if I upload more this will no longer be a blog but a mini album, lol.

Got back really early that night (for a clubbing night, that is), around 1.30am.
Then next morning woke up early and went for a nice, warm, delicious breakfast at Ho Poh.

The kueh chap is nice!!! My favourite in Miri
